Yes, it is. I'm cold. Usually I'm only cold at my house. Odd since our heat is cranked up to 75 (it's true, I feel terrible). My feet never get warm here until I've been in bed for at least an hour. Did I mention I sit directly in front of the heater? And yes, I have socks on. And slippers. Beard just says, "you got problems." Yeah, thanks.
So, the other day I was talking to Jenny Jean. Let's see, which day was that...I was in pajamas, she was at work. Really that could be any week day. Wait, maybe it was Sunda....ANYWAY. I was talkig to her on the IM and the sun rise was AWESOME. It looked like a beam of orangey red was shooting out of the purple horizon. I went out in my PJs (with coat and hat) to take a snap. Of course, none of these do it any justice.
This was taken on aquarium setting. The others were just normal.
And NOW, the weather is like this:
This is not my photo. And there was no blue in the sky. The snow is blowing blowing blowing everywhere. The road to work looks like this. I used this pic b/c there are no trees, just like here. And after doing this all day, some spots have small drifts of snow that make my truck feel weird driving over them. On the way home tonight I drove 20mph to make sure I stayed between the reflectors b/c everything else was white.
Judy, our landlord, reminded me before she left for vacation (to Bellingham, no joke) that with enough snow we get drifted in over here. Nathan and Aprille had warned us of this before so I was ready. Pulling onto Iris Ave tonight after work I noticed why we get drifted in. The blowing snow makes a direct bee line behind the trooper with skulls' parking area and into our parking area, stopping there b/c of the houses in the way. The snow is up to our 3rd front door porch step. I parked on Iris instead of pulling into the house. I started to but the truck didn't seem to like it. My first thought was, "Meh, this thing has 4-wheel-drive, I'll be fine." Then, "What am I thinking?! I don't want to deal with getting this thing out of there!" I parked on the ave and tromped through the drift that was already there to my house. I'll get pics of that in the daylight tomorrow.
Soon this will be me trying to get into our house.
You're so lucky to get to see such stunning sun rises and sets every single day. That one was particularly awesome. As for staying warm, I think you need more wool under-layers and you'll be fine. You also need a pair of snowshoes. And, just think how much fun it will be to build tunnels in all those drifts! You can make a castle.
